Our Past:
Our church came into being in 1880 as members of the community had a strong desire to worship God, yet travel to other churches was restricted by weather. After a stirring revival service led by W.P. Stallings, Milton Chappell and Mr. Keith joined with several others to establish Keith's Chapel using a brush arbor on land donated by Benneham Cameron. Within three months, a log structure was erected and in 1882, the church was accepted into the Flat River Baptist Association with 20 charter members. The church grew in ministry and numbers and in 1910, it was renamed Olive Grove Baptist Church. With a long history of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ministering to the needs of the community, and faithfully proclaiming the Word of God, the church has continued to glorify Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our Present:
Today, Olive Grove continues its' history of family oriented ministry with programs and activities for all ages. At Olive Grove, you will experience a Christian welcome and warm fellowship. We believe we are called and equipped by God to be a strong, loving church of Spirit-filled believers, growing in Christ, and used by God to share the Good News of His saving grace through Jesus with our community and the world. Here, each person is called to minister as God has gifted him or her for service. We currently have several ministry programs for all ages, a growing Sunday School programs, and opportunities for service to people within our church, around our community, and around the country.
Our Future:
Our church body is continuing to grow. If you are not a part of it, we welcome you to visit us. Come and talk to one of our staff members about any of our ministries, about salvation, baptism, or even joining our church. We will continue to branch out into our community; stay tuned for new ministry programs that are being planned as we launch new campaigns to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
